Prevention Services

We at the Council on Alcoholism & Addictions recognize that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. We proudly provide comprehensive early awareness programs for grades K-12, as well as research based programs intended for college students who are at-risk or already involved with harmful drinking or drug use.

Prevention Education Programs:

  • Customized staff development programs on alcohol and other drugs.
  • Project U-Turn: for underage youth charged with drinking and driving, zero tolerance, and use of alcohol and other drugs.
  • Community access recource library and information.
  • Screening and referral-consultation. Assessments and short-term supportive counseling to assist individuals to accept treatment or referral as needed.
  • Problem gambling information, prevention, and referral.

Prevention Goals

  • To serve as a reliable and respected leadership organization on alcoholism and addictions.
  • Provide education programs to school age and college aged youth in Oswego County.
  • To promote and provide early intervention to at risk abusers and their families.
  • To provide information and to raise public awareness regarding gambling issues.
