The Council offers a full range of problem gambling prevention and works with our other outpatient programs for treatment.

Outpatient Gambling Prevention

• The Oswego Council on Alcoholism & Addiction works closely with law enforcement and lottery outlet retailers in addressing laws, rules, and sales restriction issues.
• Training and workshops educate the public regarding the issues of problem and compulsive gambling.
• The South Oaks gambling screening tool is utilized for assessments.
• The Council raises public awareness and distributes information.

Problem Gambling:

is a gambling behavior which causes disruptions in any major area of life - psychological, physical, social or vocational.

Compulsive Gambling:

is considered a more serious form of problem gambling and is identified as a persistent and recurrent maladaptive gambling behavior that disrupts personal, family or career pursuits.
